Any one who did not pick Jeremy Brett doesn't have a clue about Sherlock Holmes as Agatha wrote him in. Brett's physical appearance matches her description. The rest of these hollywood wanabees simply do not get the job done. I have read every Holmes book many many times over. Never any cars, telephones, airplanes or modern conveniences of any kind, not many guns either, just Watson's. Sherlock was set in the late 1800's and should never be portrayed in any other time frame. Sherlock Holmes belongs to that group of thespian endeavors along with Casablanca, Maltese Falcon, True Grit, Gone w/the Wind, etc., that should never have modern remakes. Can you imagine Casablanca not in Africa, or Gone with the Wind set in Seattle?
